Robbers at Rupali Bank in Keraniganj, surrounded by police
Robbers have entered the Jinjira branch of Rupali Bank in Keraniganj, Dhaka. They have taken bank officials and customers hostage. Local residents have taken a position in front of the branch after receiving the news. Police and RAB members have surrounded the branch.
On Thursday (December 19), around 2 pm, members of a gang of robbers entered the Rupali Bank branch. According to the latest reports, the robbers are still inside. Law enforcement officers are calling on them to surrender through microphones.According to local sources, the news of the robbers entering the bank immediately spread in the area. The information about the robbery attack was spread through a microphone from a nearby mosque. Later, members of the police and other forces arrived and surrounded the branch from outside.
A senior official of Dhaka District Police said, "We received information that members of the robber gang entered the Rupali Bank branch at around 2 pm today (Thursday). We have received information that they are carrying weapons. We are trying to get them to surrender."
