A delegation of individuals injured in the July-August uprising presented a seven-point list of demands in a meeting with government advisers at the Secretariat, which began at 4:40 p.m. One key demand is that the state should provide the same level of medical care to those injured as would be given to a government minister or adviser. In a press release detailing the seven demands, signed by Zihad Islam, coordinator for the families of martyrs and injured participants of the uprising, the delegation also insisted that medical expenses already covered by the injured individuals themselves must be reimbursed.
The demands further include issuing special identification cards for the injured and martyrs, along with a special monthly allowance that would extend to the next generation, as well as their rehabilitation. They called for the creation of a museum named "Smriti Foundation" to honor those who were killed or injured during the 2024 mass uprising, along with an annual signature campaign from July 1 to August 5.
Additionally, they demanded an independent probe committee to review medical records of those killed or who suffered severe injuries in the uprising and to take legal action if any evidence of medical negligence is found. They also called for prompt prosecution of the Awami League and associated forces they allege were involved, and requested that these groups be banned. Lastly, they urged that the voices of injured protesters and families of the deceased be included in future state reform initiatives.
Meanwhile, a group of protesters receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the July-August uprising demonstrated yesterday outside the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), pressing for improved medical care and government support.
