Australia dominated Pakistan in a rain-affected opening T20I of the series, securing a convincing win. Despite the shortened format due to weather, Australia took control of the game, showcasing a strong performance both with bat and ball. Pakistan struggled to keep up, allowing Australia to take the lead in the series with ease.

Australia overpowered Pakistan in a rain-shortened opening T20I in Brisbane, winning by 29 runs in a seven-overs-per-side match. Glenn Maxwell's explosive return to form saw him score 43 off 19 balls, guiding Australia to a strong total of 93-4. Fast bowlers Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis, back in the squad after recent injuries, claimed three wickets each as Pakistan's lineup collapsed under the lights to finish at 64-9.

The game, delayed by heavy rain and lightning, saw the bowlers limited to two overs each. Despite a recent ODI series win over Australia, Pakistan struggled after captain Mohammad Rizwan opted to bowl first. Australian openers Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short set an aggressive tone, taking 16 runs off the first over. Maxwell's inventiveness shone as he blasted boundaries and hit a huge six off Haris Rauf, although his innings ended at 43 when he holed out in the sixth over. Marcus Stoinis closed the innings on a high with an unbeaten 21 off seven balls.

Pakistan’s chase faltered quickly, with Bartlett dismissing Rizwan for a duck and then Usman Khan, while Ellis sent Babar Azam back for just three runs. Despite some late hitting from Abbas Afridi, who remained unbeaten with 20 off 10 balls, Pakistan couldn’t recover from their early setbacks. The series now heads to Sydney for the second T20I on Saturday, followed by the final match in Hobart on Monday.
